COMMUNITY
The American Forces' Spouses' Club (AFSC)
is a combined community spouses' organization
that operates from Yongsan. The focus of our
group is two-fold. First, we strive to enhance
the lives of spouses/family stationed at
Yongsan and nearby locations with planned
activities to help build friendships. Second,
we provide financial support to communities around the peninsula.
Annual events sponsored by AFSC include the Community EXPO in August, the Tour of Homes in December, USO Six Star Salute, and a Senior Tea for graduating Seoul American High School seniors. Throughout the year, AFSC works to support local Korean and American organizations that demonstrate a financial need, as well as scholarships for students and spouses.
The Chosun Gift Shop (CGS) is AFSC’s main fundraising arm. Run by a small staff & many volunteers, this is a truly special place to visit, shop and support. The CGS offers a wide variety of unique items from throughout the Asia (clothing, jewelry, linens, furniture, rugs). There are numerous ways to get involved - from helping to inventory new shipments to setting up displays and assisting customers. Profits from the CGS are donated to support Korean and American projects, as well as educational scholarships.
CAMARADERIE
AFSC membership provides a wide array of events and activities to meet a diverse and interesting group of people. Simply attend one or all of the fun monthly luncheons or join an activities group. Become more involved by joining the AFSC board/committee. Explore Seoul with the shopping club, or start a new club that’s not listed on the AFSC ACTIVITIES PAGE. Meet up with old friends and make new friendships that will make your assignment to Korea one of the best times ever!
AFSC sponsors many events to help you get to know the Yongsan Community and what’s happening on the peninsula. You get the low-down on how to get things accomplished on post/off post, travel advice for family vacations, Korean language and culture information...great for the body, mind and spirit.
CHOSUN CHATTER
AFSC membership provides you with the latest community information through our weekly emails, website notices and Chosun Chatter.
Our members are truly a "purple" bunch, a mix of all services and civilians.
WE ARE:
Army, Navy, Marine Corps & Air Force service members and/or spouses.
DoD civilian employees and/or spouses.
DoDDS teachers and/or spouses.
American Red Cross, USO, & Special Service personnel and/or spouses.
Diplomatic mission & UNC officers and/or spouses.
Contractors supporting USFK and/or spouses.
Young adults in the above households.
